A recent report pointed out that Google may now be able to predict flu and disease outbreaks faster than the institution that has been doing this for 60 years. How is this possible? In a word, search. Because of the vast number of people who search for key words in Google’s search engine, information can be collected and analzed to determine not only what the outbreak is but where it is taking place. In addition, this same analysis can tell where an outbreak is headed. This allows for early warnings to be given, saving lives in a crisis.
